23 DAVID CRAVENS A two year varsity letterman and a graduate of the class of 2006 David was a two year starter at cornerback. As a junior David was pressed into action due to injuries in the secondary and responded with a junior year that saw him record 14 tackles, 2 break-ups and two interceptions. One of these interceptions sealed a great victory against cross town rival Mission Bay. His solid play earned him the team’s Most Improved Defensive Player honors in 2004. David followed up his junior year with another strong season which saw him record 30 tackles and one fumble recovery. He was also the defensive co-leader in pass break-ups with eight. For his career David was in on 44 tackles, made 10 break-ups, recovered one fumble and had 2 interceptions. He finished his Viking career with 149 defensive points and also made contributions to the special teams. He returned five punts for 49 yards, returned four kickoffs for 50 yards and was honored as Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts against San Diego High. David was selected Honorable Mention All-Western League in 2005. In addition to his on the field accomplishments David was an excellent student and was recognized as an Outstanding Scholar-Athlete by the San Diego Union-Tribune in both 2004 and 2005.
