A graduate of the class of 2002, Fernando was a two year letterman who first joined the varsity program with very limited experience as a defensive back. His junior season was an important learning experience wherein he was able to gain the knowledge and techniques required to play on the varsity level. His senior year he was able to increase his playing time in both the secondary and special teams. Fernando also made important contributions as a scout player in both his junior and senior seasons. He scored 14 defensive points on 3 tackles and one caused fumble during his varsity career.
