19 KEVIN MILLER
Kevin was the 2007 leader of the Star Chamber and a two-year starting safety for the Vikings. For his career Kevin recorded 79 tackles including 56 solo stops. He also made nine break ups, one hurry, one interception, caused one fumble and blocked two kicks. Although he missed a number of games due to injury during his varsity career Kevin was still able to record 211 total defensive points. The biggest effort of his career came against Brawley High in 2006 when he recorded six solo tackles, one pass hurry, one break up and one blocked kick. His 30 total defensive points was the top single season mark for Viking defensive backs in 2006 and earned him Defensive Player of the Game and Special Teams Player of the Game honors. In 2007 Kevin earned Defensive Player of the Game honors for his 24 point defensive effort against Santa Fe Christian. Kevin was an Honorable Mention All Western League defensive back in 2006 and 2007 and his 4.00 GPA earned him recognition as an Outstanding Student-Athlete by the San Diego Union-Tribune. He also captured this academic distinction in 2007 with a 4.21 GPA. Kevin was also selected one of the team's four team captains his senior season. Kevin will be remembered not only for his contributions on the field and in the classroom but also for his dedication and for the leadership he provided as a Captain and Star Chamber leader. It was a responsibility that he took very seriously and a major reason for the positive attitude reflected by the members of the 2007 team. In addition to his athletic accomplishments on the gridiron Kevin was also an outstanding track and field athlete and one of the top hurdlers in the Western League. He will continue his college education at UC Davis where he will be a member of the track and field team. Pictures of Kevin can be found in the 2006 and 2007 action pictures file.
