MATT ESTES

A graduate of the class of 2006 Matt was a two year varsity letterman for the Vikings. His junior year Matt made significant contributions not only in the secondary but also as a wide receiver and special teams player. Pressed into action as a starting corner against San Diego High Matt responded by making 6 tackles (5 unassisted) and scoring 18 defensive points. For his efforts he was selected Special Teams Player of the Game. Following his junior year Matt worked hard at improving his game and earned a starting position at cornerback in the Viking secondary. He made significant contributions to a Viking defense that was once again one of the top defenses in the Western League and San Diego County. He finished his career with 115 total defensive points and was in on 49 tackles.

Matt was also a very accomplished scholar and maintained a 4.42 GPA his senior year. He was recognized by the San Diego Union-Tribune as an Outstanding Student-Athlete in both 2004 and 2005. Pictures of Matt can be found in the 2005 photo section.
