A graduate of the class of 2004 Rathany was a two year varsity letterman known for his hard work and dedication. During his junior year he made tremendous contributions as a scout team player and exhibited an ability to contribute on both the offensive and defensive sides of the line of scrimmage.

A dedicated off-season of training prior to his senior year helped him secure a starting position as a defensive back. His lifting test score of 412 ranked him number two on the the Viking strength list. Rathany made the most of this opportunity and accumulated 109 defensive points. He was in on 29 tackles (25 unassisted), made 2 interceptions, recorded 5 break-ups and recovered one fumble. He was also selected Honorable Mention All Western League.
