RUSSELL YOUNGBLOOD

Russell was a three year varsity letterman who played briefly in the Viking secondary his senior season. He unfortunately saw his senior season cut short by a serious knee injury in the fourth game of the season. Although he was not able to contribute extensively as a defensive back Russell had a great impact as a running back. For his career Russell carried the ball 377 times for 1,764 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also caught 16 passes for 113 yards. In addition he returned five kickoffs for 74 total yards. His 1,113 rushing yards as a junior ranks him number seven on the all-time Vikings’ single season rushing record book. His 1,764 career rushing yards also ranks number seven on the all-time list and his 78 career points ranks number 14 on the all-time list. Pictures of Russell can be found in the 2005 photo section.
