VICTOR RANGEL
Victor was a two sport athlete and a 2009 graduate of La Jolla High School. He played in the Viking secondary in 2008 and excelled on both sides of the line of scrimmage. The was selected a group training captain and provided outstanding leadership on and off the field. Victor helped solidify the Viking secondary with his solid corner play by scoring 40 defensive points in limited action on this side of the ball. On offense he carried the ball 90 times for 543 total yards and averaged 6.03 yards per carry. Victor also scored five touchdowns and recorded four receptions. His most outstanding performance came against San Diego High School on Blast Off day when he rushed for 125 yards on nine carries, scoring three touchdowns while averaging 13.9 yards per carry. Victor's efforts his senior year earned him Team Captain and Honorable Mention All Western League honors. Victor was also an outstanding student student whose 3.36 GPA earned him a spot on the San Diego Union-Tribune 2008 All-Academic Team. His coaches will remember him for not only his contributions on the field but also for his commitment to the program. We very much appreciate the self sacrifices he made on a daily basis commuting from south San Diego to train practice with his teammates. |
