OMAR HERNANDEZ

Omar was a two-year Varsity letterman from 2008 to 2009. He first came to the Varsity level in 2008. This season was a learning season for him and he recorded five unassisted tackles and made one break-up. In the summer of 2009 Omar dedicated himself to working and training in the weight room with the goal of stepping on the field as a Varsity starter his senior year. His hard work and dedication paid off that fall when he recorded 30 tackles and made 18 unassisted stops. He also recorded three break-ups and finished the season with 75 defensive points. Omar was also an accomplished student and a two-time member of the Union-Tribune All-Academic Team. In 2009 he became one of the strongest Viking players and proved to everyone that it is possible to improve one's skill, strength and speed if one is willing to make the personal sacrifices necessary to achieve this goal. His coaches will always remember him for his strong work ethic and never ending dedication to the Viking football program.
