Matt had a solid career for the Vikings playing varsity football in 2010 and 2011. Matt was a serious player who worked very hard at improving his game as well as working very hard in the weight room in an effort to make himself bigger, faster and stronger. He had a solid junior season that saw him improve his FBI (football intelligence) while at the same time making an important contribution on the field. He recorded 54 defensive points that included 19 tackles with 14 of those coming unassisted. He also caused one fumble and recovered another. He followed up his junior season with a senior year that reflected his solid work ethic. In 2011 he recorded 37 tackles with 21 of those stops coming unassisted. He also recorded four pass break-ups. His 92 defensive points coupled with his 54 points from his junior season gave him a total of  146 defensive points for his two year varsity career. After his senior season Matt was voted the team's Most Improved Defensive Player. Matt also stepped up and became an excellent team and group leader his senior year. He will always be remembered for not only his contributions on the field but also his dedication and ability to lead by example.
