Garret was a two-year Varsity letterman from 2008-2009. Garrett's senior year was a breakout season when he saw action on both sides of ball. On the offensive side of the ball Garrett led all Viking rushers with 501 rushing yards and had an additional four receptions for 38 yards. On the defensive side he was equally effective. Garrett recorded 112 total defensive points. He was in on 40 tackles including 27 solo stops. He also recorded one interception, one break-up and recovered two fumbles. His offensive totals earned him the 2009 Viking Back of the Year. Garrett's work and dedication during the summer of 2009 demonstrated to his teammates that if one sets high goals and works to reach them one will be able to reach new heights. It is an important message an excellent example for all Vikings football players.
