Dear Mike,

I hope all is going well. I was a little worried because I had gone to a couple baseball games and didn’t see you there. Coach Ponsford told me that you were doing your confirmation and couldn’t come to practice. I must admit that I wasn’t as conscientious  as you were when I made my confirmation. I figured that the bishop would never ask me a question because our group was so big and I was going to be sitting in the back. What were the chances! Well, I was wrong. Of course I didn’t know the answer and for years I thought I was going to hell for this. Now I know that you don’t go to hell for not knowing an answer, so I’ll probably be going there for something else. Actually, my goal is to go to purgatory and some day, after God feels sorry for me, He will let me out.

Now that I know that you are full of the Holy Spirit, I want to share some thoughts about spring football and the Star Chamber. (By the way, because you do have the Holy Spirit, you can’t hang around with people who ask middle school girls if they would wear shoes if they didn’t have feet) First, we have decided to participate in passing league this summer. After speaking with some of the members I feel confident that we will have a good turn out. Our summer training program will once again consist of training six days a week. I thought that a five dayprogram might be better, but most of you indicated that you liked it as it is. So this is the way we will keep it. I am concerned that we will not be able to have much on the field spring training because of our facilities limitations. If the baseball season is over, we will be able to get on the Muirlands field on May 24th. If not, we will go on a day to day basis and see what happens. I want the baseball team to go as far as it can. If we lose some days, so be it. This won’t keep us from being a great team in the fall.

My bigger concern right now is that we might lose Coach Siemans. He’s going to start working on a Masters Degree in the fall and his classes might conflict with our fall practices. I hate to lose him because he is a good coach and I want very much to keep our defensive staff intact. I hope we will be able to work something out.

I will be meeting with the Star Chamber sometime during spring ball. We will set a date for all of you to get together so that you can find out what your special responsibilities will be. I think a good pizza restaurant will be nice. It will allow me to treat you guys and at the same time say thanks for all the hard work you will be doing in the future. I think you guys are really going to enjoy the Star Chamber. I’ve been spending a lot of time putting this all together and we are going to have a lot of fun with this. I know you are going to work real hard this summer and you are going to have a great year. One last question, are you as smart as a goose?
