A graduate of the class of 2001, Ryan first joined the Star Chamber in 1999. Known for his intelligent play, Ryan will always be remembered for his great dedication and support for his teammates and coaches. The two-time Second Team All League selection finished his career with 436 defensive points. He made 138 tackles (105 original) and led the team in interceptions in both his junior and senior years. Ryan had 13 career pass break-ups and tied for the team lead in this category his senior season. For his career he also recorded 3 caused fumbles and 2 recovered fumbles.

Ryan also received numerous individual honors. He was a two-time member of the County All Academic Team and carried as 3.5 GPA. His senior year the Walter J. Zable/San Diego Chapter of the National Foundation and College Hall of Fame named him an honorable mention Scholar-Leader Athlete. His teammates selected him Co-Defensive Back of the year his senior season and his coaches awarded him the prestigious Gene Edwards Memorial Ironman Award in recognition of his dedication to La Jolla football. In his two years as a varsity player Ryan never missed a practice or a game.
