Dear Jack,

I hope that all is going well. As you know I got a chance to see you pitch last Wednesday. You were great! I didn’t know you could throw that hard. I also saw when the Scripps pitcher hit you. First time I ever saw you mad. Save your aggression for the football field. Baseball fights rank up there with the World Wrestling Federation. I am taking a minute to communicate with all members of the Star Chamber before spring football. I want to share some information with you and let you know what we will be doing with the Star Chamber.

First, we have decided to participate in passing league this summer. After speaking with some of the members I feel confident that we will have a good turn out. Our summer training program will once again consist of training six days a week. I thought that a five day program might be better, but most of you indicated that you liked it as it is. So this is the way we will keep it. I am concerned that we will not be able to have much on the field spring training because of our facilities limitations. If the baseball season is over, we will be able to get on the Muirlands field on May 24th. If not, we will go on a day to day basis and see what happens. I want the baseball team to go as far as it can. If we lose some days, so be it. This won’t keep us from being a great team in the fall.

My bigger concern right now is that we might lose Coach Siemans. He’s going to start working on a Masters Degree in the fall and his classes might conflict with our fall practices. I hate to lose him because he is a good coach and I want very much to keep our defensive staff intact. I hope we will be able to work something out.

I will be meeting with the Star Chamber sometime during spring ball. We will set a date for all of you to get together so that you can find out what your special responsibilities will be. I think a good pizza restaurant will be nice. It will allow me to treat you guys and at the same time say thanks for all the hard work you will be doing in the future. I think you guys are really going to enjoy the Star Chamber. I’ve been spending a lot of time putting this all together and we are going to have a lot of fun with this. Keep working hard in school and when baseball is over, get started on getting yourself ready for a great season in 1999. One last question, are you as smart as a goose?

P.S. I have decided that the Star Chamber will play like Wild African Dogs.
